Around the World in 10 Days
July 6th – July 17th
Grab your passport and travel journal as we explore the world around us. We’ll start by mapping out our adventure and creating our own itinerary to include museums, sightseeing, and local cooking classes from all around the world. Campers will research their own country, create a fun, informational poster while we cook up various dishes of international works of art and authentic cuisine when they present their findings to the other campers during our ’Culture Fair’. We’ll dance party away and make instruments specific to various countries around the world while they document their adventures in their passports and travel journals. Let the virtual journey begin!
Earth Science ROCKS !
July 20th -July 31st
Two full weeks of nature-based fun that will heighten every student’s curiosity and wonder, with a focus on water, water, water! We’ll study why rivers flow to lakes and oceans, the water cycle, and the science behind tsunamis, hurricanes, and typhoons. We will explore density and salt water as campers perform their own sink and float experiments and even design their own boat. How many boats will float? Let’s learn about the science of bubbles, build our own bubble shooter, and try our hand at bouncing bubbles! We’ll go geocaching and perform rock science experiments. Don’t miss this week as we will make a sediment jar, explore Pop Rocks audible science and create our very own geodes
STEM Camp
August 3rd – 14th
Join us as we blast off to a week jam packed full of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math! We will explore ways to create, build, and code with Legos! Explore our massive Lego collection as campers team up to create their own creative masterpiece. We will explore simple machines, force, motion, speed, and mechanical energy using every day materials. Our introduction to robotics will have campers design their own 3D robot! Ramp up your coding skills as we also practice coding, unplugged! Participate in a study of the space program, our favorite Space Guy will make an annual guest appearance. We will wrap up the unit, with a ‘What Can You Build?’ STEM challenge!
Lights, Camera, Action!
August 17th – August 31st
Time to find your inner drama king or queen as we write our very own Green Gable play! We’ll start by studying the elements of theater, then quickly roll into choosing a theme and brainstorming an original script. Each camper will play a role, from scriptwriting and props to costumes and invitation design. Younger campers may be invited to attend the final production as part of our audience! Throughout the unit we will practice our acting skills through acting exercises, charades, improv prompts, and more! To celebrate our efforts, we’ll decorate our own cars to relax in at our backyard drive-in movie theater. Campers won’t want to miss this celebration, complete with snacks , and kid-friendly outdoor movies.
